I'm still looking to fix instr() and rinstr() with the 3 parameters. They are very tricky to fix because they have to still work as the manual states and yet solve the nasty bugs. Anybody have any ideas how to stress test these calls? :)

only times i use instr() are when i code a scroller, that's not stress-testing ... :p

Over the past weekend I got back to the run-only interpreter project and its now at beta stage. Its 1:1 in sync with my new library. This is designed for use with GBE.

I've gotten the break key combo working, so if one ends up in an endless loop, you just press break, then the cursor appears at the line when it was stopped just like the old interpreter did. If anyone is using GBE and the new library and would like to give the beta interpreter a go, let me know. I currently have no documentation done for it yet.

Now that I have matched the old runonly interpreter, its time to surpass it. I have fixed EVERY and AFTER to work just like the library as well. Today I have restored DUMP, TRACE$, and TRON and friends to working condition. Its finally possible to debug with GBE just as you would with the old editor. Isn't that that the point of an interpreter? ;)

If you code under MiNT as I often do it gets interesting. The output of these commands is neatly displayed in the console window in real-time as the program runs.

Now that sounds like a real treat to me! Is it possible to let a program change resolution even in multitasking mode whiel run from the new Runtime interpreter? If so I wil really consider adopting to install MiNT on my Falcon.

@lp: for testing purposes, I could you send a test program.

If you are using documented methods to modify the screen and restore it back the way it was before the program exits, it should not be a problem. The interpreter has also been cleaned up like the library so it does not mess with the mouse, or install any interrupts.

Actually the TRON command, sends all output internally to PRINT. So if the console is closed it will simply go to the full screen. TRON can also be sent to a #channel as well, thus any device you can open for output.

Not sure a test program would do me much good on my Hades060 as it does not support mode changes, like I think you are wanting to test. :) I can post a beta copy of the interpreter here and maybe someone with a proper old school Atari and MiNT can try your test file?
